In my last update I explained I had referred the situation to my MP (Helen Grant), who confimred she had written to both Department for Education and Teachers’ Pensions.
Helen sent me an email on 7th March with copies of the response dated 3rd March from DfE, which enclosed the response from Teachers’ Pensions, dated 27th February.
That letter indicated Teachers’ Pensions had located all but one of the records, via the reference numbers quoted in my previous letter to Helen. It also stated that they had issued all of the requested Cash Equivalent Values. Additionally it answered a specific question in relation to one member’s benefits.
I will be revieiwng the individual cases and writing to Teachers’ Pensions, where appropriate.
The remainder of the letter reiterated the issues caused by the necessity to revisit benefits to assess whether individual members were impacted and needed adjustments in relation to the McCloud Remedy.
Teachers’ Pensions confirmed “We are now in a position where we are working our way through the backlog of cases that has built up and are working on these in date order.”
